Transfer of Hosting from AWS to "Another Provider" when the Domain registration account is held by AWS.

If the client decides to close the hosting account with AWS, the client should understand that when we close this account the website will cease to be available, the associated emails will cease to function and all stored information will be unavailable.

If the client wishes to continue the service with another provider and does not want interruption of the services there are certain obligatory technical formalities that the client must follow.

  1. The client sets up a hosting account with "Another provider" in advance and places a working copy of the website on the "new server" and replicates the email configuration on the "new server".

  2. The client instructs AWS to "unlock" the domain with the registrar so that "Another provider" can manage the transfer of the domain to an alternative registrar. The Registrar will not release the domain if there is payment outstanding on it. AWS will not unlock the domain if the domain registration fee or hosting subscription payment is outstanding. Once the domain is transferred the "Other provider" can update the DNS information so that the domain points at the "new server". It make take 24 to 48 hours for this information to propagate around the Internet.

  3. The client instructs AWS to discontinue the Hosting and Domain registration service. At this point AWS will cancel the hosting and domain registration subscriptions and cancel client liabilities.
